Aircraft crashes during training exercise in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district, no casualties reported
A trainer aircraft crashed in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district on Saturday afternoon. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that an investigation team is being rushed to the site.
A trainer aircraft crashed in Dhana area of Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district. The two occupants of the aircraft- the trainer and the trainee- are reportedly safe.
The single-engine aircraft, a Cessna 172, is owned by Dhana-based Chimes Aviation Academy. The academy had been banned from using the airstrip after one of its aircraft crashed last year, killing its two occupants. The ban was imposed on the private academy for flouting the norms. The ban was lifted later.
Responding to the news of the crash, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “ Just got the news of a crash of a Cessna aircraft (solo flight) that belonged to the Chimes Aviation Academy in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. Fortunately, the trainee is safe. We are rushing an investigation team to the site.”

This is the second time a trainer aircraft has crashed in the last 18 months. In January 2020, another trainer aircraft of Chimes Aviation had crashed on the runway, killing two persons on board.
